Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TV Track ("we", "us") processes your personal data when you use our website and application. We comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation — GDPR) and applicable national laws.

1. Data controller

The data controller is TV Track. For any question regarding this policy or your personal data, contact us at contact@tv-track.com.

2. Data we collect

We may collect: (a) account data — email address, username, hashed password, profile information (display name, bio, avatar); (b) usage data — shows and movies you track, watch progress, ratings, watchlist, social interactions (follows, activity feed); (c) subscription data — billing status and Stripe customer identifiers (payment card details are processed exclusively by Stripe); (d) technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, cookies and similar identifiers; (e) communications — support requests and notification preferences.

3. Purposes of processing

We use your data to: provide and maintain the tracking service; authenticate users and secure accounts; process Premium subscriptions; send service notifications (e.g. new episodes); enable social features; improve our product through aggregated analytics; comply with legal obligations; and respond to your requests.

4. Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6)

Processing is based on: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — providing the service you signed up for; legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — security, fraud prevention, and product improvement, balanced against your rights; consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — optional marketing communications and non-essential cookies, which you may withdraw at any time; legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — tax and accounting requirements where applicable.

5. Recipients and subprocessors

We share data only when necessary with trusted subprocessors bound by data processing agreements: Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional emails), hosting and database providers, TMDB/TheTVDB (media metadata lookups — no personal data is sent beyond search queries), and Google (optional OAuth sign-in). We do not sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Some subprocessors may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or an adequacy decision.

7. Data retention

Account data is retained for the duration of your account and deleted within 30 days after account deletion, except where longer retention is required by law. Billing records may be kept for up to 10 years for accounting purposes. Server logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies for authentication (session and refresh tokens) and security (CSRF protection). With your consent, we may use analytics cookies to understand how the service is used. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Refusing essential cookies may prevent you from using the service.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to: access your data; rectify inaccurate data; erase your data ("right to be forgotten"); restrict processing; data portability; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. To exercise these rights, email contact@tv-track.com. We will respond within one month.

10. Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In France, this is the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés) — www.cnil.fr.

11. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords (Argon2), access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

12. Minors

TV Track is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a notice on the service. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the latest revision.

14. Contact
